National Park Ambassadors

They maintain habitats, educate visitors, and preserve history. They're rangers, museum curators, engineers, volunteers, landscape architects, and fire fighters. They're the treasured stewards of our national parks. They're National Park Ambassadors.

Behind every national park is a team of ordinary people who are dedicated to maintaining the extraordinary. They may not wear capes, but they're heroes in our book. Meet the individuals who protect our parks and send thanks to an NPS employee or volunteer who made your last visit extra special.

Thank you, Seasonal Ranger.Three years ago I went to Glacier National Park. I attended a program on Corvids given by a female seasonal park ranger. I'm sorry I don't remember her name. It was the most interesting, engaging, fun program I have ever attended in all of my travels to national parks. Thank you to her, she had red hair, and thanks to all of the park rangers who work so hard in our beautiful national parks.

Thank you, Jan (I think? ..pic is hard to read her badge). It was so nice to see a Park Ambassador eating lunch at the close to top of Mt Rainer (8k ft I think). I thought she was a ranger, but she explained she was an ambassador/ volunteer. We had a lovely chat about the view, as we waited for the clouds to blow over so we could see the top of Rainer. Which it did after e 30 minutes, as we sat together discussing the formations. Then suddenly she said there was a rarely seen bird five feet in front of us on the edge of the snow bank. I never would have noticed, not to mention known how rare our sighting had been. That was special, as was our chat. I have visited over 30 plus national parks over my lifetime, a few multiple time. It was so nice to have this experience. I left her with a nice picture of her eating to remember the moment.
