Discover the heritage that is yours.

Stand Where Heroes Stood is a new creative effort supporting the Find Your Park/Encuentra Tu Parque movement that celebrates African American heritage and culture and inspires people to visualize themselves in parks.

Chaya at NOLA JAZZ

Chaya Harris, an Outdoor Afro leader, is pictured alongside a trumpet player at New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park. This imagery evokes memories of music legends like Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson, inspiring people to experience the living legacy of New Orleans’ rich musical traditions.

Chaya at Chalmette

At Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve, Chaya proudly stands at the historic Chalmette Battlefield. Just behind her, you see a man who represents the free men of color who fought in the Battle of New Orleans, inspiring people to explore their heritage at national parks.
