National Park Service Centennial Ambassador and actor Terrence J visits Yosemite National Park for the first time. Terrence expresses his heritage as an African American and connects his personal history to the Buffalo Soldiers who protected the park and inspired him to discover his own new adventures at the parks.
Where the Legacies of Heroes Come Alive
This nation’s history is filled with countless stories of the remarkable women and men whose leadership, ideals, and innovations forged unique paths in hopes of a better future. Their stories reflect our shared history and heritage and are preserved in national parks for this and future generations.
Honoring Flight 93
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Flight 93 was hijacked, and 40 passengers and crew members courageously gave their lives, thereby thwarting a planned attack on our nation’s capital. The plane crashed in a field in Shanksville, PA rather than its intended target — the U.S. Capitol. Thanks to the heroes aboard the flight, it was the only plane hijacked on September 11 that did not reach its destination, likely saving thousands of lives.
