Friends Groups
We are all Parks — and it’s on all of us to protect these national treasures. Through the National Park Foundation, dedicated Friends Groups, and multiple volunteer opportunities, there’s something for everyone.
The Accokeek Foundation supports conservation of the Potomac Riverfront. The Foundation’s original fundraising efforts helped keep the river near Washington’s Mount Vernon estate free from obstruction. Today, the Accokeek Foundation works with the National Park Service to preserve 200 acres of Piscataway Park along the Potomac River.
Alaska Geographic’s fundraising efforts protect Alaska’s wild places, including parks, rivers, forests, and refuges.
Promoting the cultural legacy of the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park is the mission of the Appomattox 1865 Foundation.

Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy (CNPC) was established in 2012 as the official friends group for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA). This organization is the only nonprofit, philanthropic organization dedicated exclusively to the protection and preservation of the CRNRA and the enhancement of visitor experience. They are currently focused on helping our national park improve its trail system, enhance and develop the National Water Trail and expand volunteer and educational programs.
