The Grit & Passion of Park Trail Crews

It takes tremendous grit and passion for a member of a national park trail crew to thrive. Though the days may be long, the physical demands arduous, and the unexpected challenges difficult to navigate, one thing is for sure: serving on a trail crew guarantees an unforgettable experience.

Through its support of the 21st Century Conservation Service Corps (21CSC), the National Park Foundation provides funds to hire youth and returning veterans as part of service groups. These trail crew members get hands-on job training while undertaking essential conservation projects in public lands. They learn a range of new skills including those needed to accomplish conservation and preservation projects, tricks for thriving in the backcountry, and interpersonal skills that ensure the team’s success.

Produced by the National Park Service and National Park Foundation as part of the #FindYourPark/#EncuentraTuParque movement, this inspiring video features members of the Eastern Sierra Conservation Corps who served in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks as they share personal reflections from their time on the trails.
