Not far outside of Washington, DC, this is a great place for a day trip to escape the bustle of the capital. The park itself is beautiful; large open fields, remnants of fences and other battlefield installations, and lots of informational plaques and monuments as part of a walking tour. Very informative, while also leaving plenty of time to explore the area or enjoy a picnic.

Speaking of which, don't miss the nearby Winery at Bull Run for a relaxing wine tasting, and downtown Manassas has a lot of great places to eat!

See Yosemite from Above

While exploring Yosemite from the valley is an amazing experience, if you can make it up to Glacier Point you will not regret it! There are many hikes that start from Glacier Point and on the way up that range from easy to extremely challenging.

My favorite was Taft Point and the Fissures. This was just a quick half-mile walk (very easy!) through the woods. It seems very unassuming until you step out on the rocks and the whole world opens up in front of you! It seriously feels like you are on top of the world and is a truly breathtaking experience.
