Thank you, each of you, for working tirelessly -- and often thanklessly -- to preserve and protect my favorite place on Earth. Although I grew up in adjacent Jefferson County, Tennessee, I count the Smokies as home. When you labor to maintain their beauty and history and grandeur, you're essentially maintaining my house, my sanctuary, my place of refuge.
