We met a wonderful ranger this summer while watching Elk by Moose Lake . As we told him about a bear encounter we had the prior day near the Rockefeller Preserve Center he told us all about the famous Queen 399 . I was fascinated by all his stories of her and visited the Tom Mangelsen gallery in Jackson before we left . I quickly became obsessed with 399 and really all the grizzly population in the Yellowstone /Teton area and brought all this knowledge home with me to educate my grandchildren who are avid hikers and outdoorsmen already . Thank you so much to this ranger whose name I unfortunately do not know for educating me to the grizzly population and may I add - RIP 399 . š„²
