Thank you so much for helping me get information about obtaining a backcountry permit and information about the area where I ended up going, Granite Lake basin. It was a really incredible place and well worth the 4000 + ft vertical gain to reach it. I also appreciate your tracking of fire information when I stopped back in at the Visitor Center after my backpack trip and told you about the fresh new smoke plume visible from Panorama Point along Park Ridge. My visit to Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs went quite well after the hiccup in getting to California on account of a haz materials spill along the railroad line that blocked my Coast Starlight train from reaching California. Very impressed with Kings Canyon-- scenery like Yosemite and much smaller crowds.
