Restoring the Marine Wilderness of Point Reyes National Seashore

“A wilderness, in contrast with those areas where man and his works dominate the landscape, is hereby recognized as an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain.” ~Wilderness Act of 1964

Wilderness areas offer visitors unique opportunities for solitude and primitive recreational activities. Far from the reaches of mechanization and electrical conveniences, these pristine places invite visitors to connect with nature and to experience the inspirational and spiritual values of wilderness.

When the opportunity presented itself to help the National Park Service restore Point Reyes National Seashore's Drakes Estero to a pristine – and wild – estuary, the National Park Foundation stepped up. The restoration will enable future generations to understand the value and importance of this marine wilderness and to appreciate the opportunity to enjoy the area.

Produced by the National Park Service and National Park Foundation as part of the #FindYourPark / #EncuentraTuParque movement, this inspiring video showcases the power of partnerships and what we can accomplish when we protect the places we love.
