National Park Ambassadors

They maintain habitats, educate visitors, and preserve history. They're rangers, museum curators, engineers, volunteers, landscape architects, and fire fighters. They're the treasured stewards of our national parks. They're National Park Ambassadors.

Behind every national park is a team of ordinary people who are dedicated to maintaining the extraordinary. They may not wear capes, but they're heroes in our book. Meet the individuals who protect our parks and send thanks to an NPS employee or volunteer who made your last visit extra special.

Thank you, Ranger Jeremy.I had the privilege of volunteering at Mount Locust in 2023. Ranger Jeremy went out of his way to make me welcome, and made me feel a part of the team. He was a wealth of information, and actively engaged with the public in a positive and friendly manner. It was a pleasure to work alongside him. The Natchez Trace National Park, and in particular Mount Locust, is a hidden gem in the National Park system.

Thank you, Shannon Hurley .Many thanks to Shannon Hurley for his insightful tour of Mammoth Caves Frozen Niagara. The tour had several crying toddlers on it,yet he and Aaron persevered. At the end, after explaining why Mammoth Cave is free for everyone to enter, he made a poignant comment about observing Veterans Day which had me biteing my lip not to cry. Mr Hurley was engaging and candid. Great tour.

Thank you, Zion Nat’l Park Ranger. My husband and I recently did a week long guided biking trip from Boulder Mt. to Bryce and on into Zion and en route to the Narrow’s hike, I met a very young Park Ranger who had only worked at the Park for a little while. I had a ? about a previous hike that we had done about 15 years ago that was apparently closed due to rock falls. He didn’t know much but was very enthusiastic about our visit. The next day we hiked Angel’s Landing - it was 92 deg and there he was again, giving 1st aid to an overheated hiker. Nice as can be and very caring. I don’t know his name but felt safe knowing the rangers were there who cared about our enjoyment and health. Thank You, Judy Haupt

Thank you, All rangers at so many parks. In the odd numbered years, I have taken my grandchildren on a "Grand Adventure." I pack up my car, gather the kids, and off we go to visit our National Parks and some state parks. We hike some trails, learn what we can about the various parks, and get junior ranger badges. We have an awesome time as we have the joy of the outdoor world we all love, the time with cousins (and grandma), and learn how we can be better stewards of these places. Thank you for all that you do for our visits and for sharing your knowledge and time with us.
