National Park Ambassadors

They maintain habitats, educate visitors, and preserve history. They're rangers, museum curators, engineers, volunteers, landscape architects, and fire fighters. They're the treasured stewards of our national parks. They're National Park Ambassadors.

Behind every national park is a team of ordinary people who are dedicated to maintaining the extraordinary. They may not wear capes, but they're heroes in our book. Meet the individuals who protect our parks and send thanks to an NPS employee or volunteer who made your last visit extra special.

Thank you, Unknown.Ranger at entrance gate. I don't know her name, but she was so nice and took the time to make sure we understood the layout of the park and what was the best to see in our short time. I am so thankful for all our Park Rangers who, as stewards of these lands, make it possible for me to enjoy.

Thank you, Yosemite Rangers.Sorry I don't recall the rangers' names ( there were two of them), but I was in Yosemite in August 2016 when I saw a notice of a ranger led hike to the top of Sentinel Dome, to watch the sunset over El Capitan at the exact same time of the full moonrise in the opposite direction over Gray's Peak. I don't know if this sort of thing is in the job description, but I thought it was awesome that they took the time to educate themselves about this very rare occurrence, and lead a bunch of us up there to talk about it and answer a lot of other questions about the park and it's landmarks. Yosemite is ALWAYS spectacular, but this was a very special and unique thing to see, and something I'll never forget. Thanks!
